5 Kitchen Subway Backsplash Ideas For Your Home Remodel by Kadilak Homes

The kitchen is the heart of the home, and it plays a pivotal part in a family’s everyday life. Some of the best memories can be made in the kitchen between cooking, baking, and gathering with loved ones for holidays. Since this space is used so often, and seen by almost everyone who enters your home, why not add some personality to your backsplash tile to bring your kitchen back to life?!

Backsplash tile in a kitchen is essential and the possibilities are truly endless! One of the most common backsplash tiles we see in home remodels are subway tile. Its versatility with varying colors, textures, and sizes can match any design style. From traditional to ultra-modern, with contrasting grout or without, subway tile can elevate your backsplash game and give your friends major kitchen envy! In this blog, I will be featuring 5 kitchen subway tile backsplash ideas and what to pair it with for your kitchen remodel!

1-5 Kitchen Backsplash Ideas For Your Home Remodel1.  Classic White Subway Tile Kitchen Backsplash

You can’t go wrong with a white backsplash and in this particular project I wanted it to create the ultimate classic white kitchen design! I went with a different sized subway tile that was longer and slimmer than the standard subway tile (standard is about 3″ x 6″). Using the different size helped modernize the over-all look while keeping the classic vibe. Pairing the white subway tile with white cabinets and polished chrome hardware finished off the clean look and kept the color palette fairly neutral.  The gray grout add just enough contrast to make it pop against all of the white.

2.  Colored Accent Subway Tile Kitchen Backsplash

Looking to add a splash of color to your kitchen design? Incorporating an accent color by using subway tile is the perfect way to add some personality to your kitchen without going overboard. In this kitchen remodel I wanted to give a nod to the previous blue tile that was in the home before while upgrading the overall design. The blue color has amazing movement due to the variations in the tile texture and using white grout helps the color really shine. This farmhouse kitchen boasts white cabinets, black pendants, and a black countertop that help balance out the blue tones from the backsplash tile.

3.  Modern Farmhouse Style Kitchen: Mixing Subway Tile & Arabesque

A great way to add more interest into your kitchen design is to seamlessly work in a different shaped tile under the hood range. For this Modern Farmhouse kitchen, I wanted to use a white subway tile as the main backsplash and a small white arabesque tile as my accent tile! This was a great way to play around with different shapes and sizes while only using one color of backsplash tile.

This kitchen design is all about contrasting colors while still looking bright and airy! The lower cabinets match the island cabinets while the upper white cabinets bring balance to the space. I used a white wavy subway tile as the main backsplash tile and wanted to add emphasis on the back wall cook top area. For that backsplash tile I chose a black and white pattern tile that goes all the way up to the ceiling, so you can really see the design. To finish off the look we used polished chrome pendants and hardware, which kept the space all within the same color palette.

5.  Playing With Contrasting Grout, Featuring Gray Subway Tile & Arabesque

An amazing way to modernize a kitchen backsplash is to use a contrasting grout color! It instantly creates an interesting tile design. For this kitchen, I chose a wavy gray subway tile and used white grout to really make it pop. I still wanted to add more texture and color, so for under the hood range I used a large arabesque tile, that has varying gray tones in it, and paired it with a contrasting dark grout. I used all of the same variations of grays and whites, but by using the colors in unexpected ways it updated the final kitchen remodel into something more unique!
