The vanity is one of the main components in a remodel and is also a great place to incorporate color into your bathroom design! The cost of a vanity depends on the size (single or double sink?) and type (cabinet, vanity, furniture legs, pedestal, etc.).  What you choose really depends on the space you have available and how you plan to use the new vanity.

THE COUNTERTOP:  PRICES RANGE FROM: $0 to $1,000+
Counter tops typically range from $0 (pedestal sink!) to $1,000 depending on whether you get a preformed top or have one custom made.  Granite and Quartz countertops are popular material choices.

Once you have decided on your bathroom vanity and countertop you’ll have to choose a faucet (standard sizes are 4″ holes, 8″ holes, and single hole).  If you go with a preformed countertop or specialty sink be sure to double check that the faucet size and the size of the holes that are being drilled match up!

Lack of bathroom storage is one of the biggest issues we hear about so this one is important!  If you have a built-in closet you may want to consider a shelving system to maximize the space.  If not, other storage solutions such as a linen tower, storage cabinet over the toilet, or building a nook into the wall may help maximize your storage space.  This price ranges from freestanding units to a built-in closet.

Freshening up a bathroom with a new paint color is an inexpensive project that makes a big impact on a space!

SHOWER DOOR:  PRICES RANGE FROM: $1,200 to $2,500+

PROFESSIONAL FULL GUT REMODEL:

It is important to remember that finish materials only account for about 1/3 of the total overall cost of a bathroom remodel.  The other 2/3 cover:  dumpster and disposal fees, permit fees, demolition, plumbing, electrical, insulation, finished walls, tile installation, carpentry, general labor, and other rough materials such as sub-flooring, lumber, adhesives, etc.

According to the 2020 Cost Vs. Value report, you can expect a professional mid-range bathroom remodel to cost about $22,397 in New England (only slightly higher than the average of $21,377 nationally).  If you are looking at a larger or more upscale bathroom remodel the average cost in New England is reported to be $69,477.
