The Next Generation Phase 2 | Minimalist Primary Bathroom

After completing their main living area renovation, we are back at Matt + Charlene’s house to upgrade their primary suite!

The existing bathroom was a bit small and dated, and they needed it to be more functional for their busy mornings.

Since their bedroom had two walk-in closets, they were willing to sacrifice one for more space in the bathroom. With that extra square footage, we’d now be able to include a water closet and an extra-large vanity into the plans.

The new enlarged bathroom includes many of the minimalist elements and modern color schemes we incorporated into their main living area renovation.

Matt and Charlene wanted a white oak vanity, so we custom built this one to fit their space which gave us enough room to sneak in a window between the sinks. The backlit LED mirrors and toe kick lighting added the perfect touch of contemporary ambiance.

The right side of the vanity is the water closet, separated by a pocket door.

After: the shower

Modern bathroom with a built-in quartz bench, dark gray marble-look tile wall, and decorative brown glass vase with white flowers, next to built-in shelving with bath products.

In the shower and along the vanity wall, we went with a large format (2’x4′) tile, mixing a soft marbled charcoal tile with a muted taupe tile on the back shower wall and floor.

Inside the shower, we incorporated an LED lit double level niche, a full-width bench, a linear drain, and a half-wall to let in more light.

Before & After: The Bedroom T.V. Wall

In their bedroom, the TV was originally in a nook on the wall in between the bathroom and the walk-in closet.

We gave this wall a whole new functional face lift, and also replaced the round top bedroom window with a rectangular one to fit the new style.

After merging the closet space into the bathroom, we recaptured the nook the T.V sat in. Additionally, we went from two doors on that wall, to one.

We needed to do something to balance out the wall now that the closet was gone.

I decided to split the wall into 3 sections based on the placement of the new door. I added 2 new equally sized floor-to-ceiling bookshelves to anchor each end.

For the middle section, we added an electric fireplace with a white oak mantle. To balance it out even more, I tied it together across the top with the bathroom door.

This entire wall is painted in Benjamin Moore Athena.

We were so honored to work with Matt and Charlene on another project and hope that they enjoy their new space for many years to come!
