Today I wanted to share our plans for a little project we’re working on for our clients Donna and Joe: an extra bedroom that we’re transforming into a home office and guest room combo. Donna and Joe have 2 grandsons so they wanted to create a space with plenty of room for sleepovers that can also function as an office/ sitting room when the boys aren’t there.
The room isn’t huge so we decided on building a twin sized daybed against the wall furthest from the doorway that can do double duty as a sofa most of the time. Then, off the daybed, we will build out an oak desk with drawer storage. When the boys are visiting, they can pull out the lower trundle bed so they each have their own space. Around the daybed, we’re going to incorporate bookcases, open shelving, and large drawers for extra storage.
I love designing and seeing these types of projects come to life because they’re so custom and tailored to the specific space!
BELOW: concept render of the new space.
For the desk area on Wall C, there will be built-in storage drawers, more cabinets, and a desk with an oak wood top. Above the desk, we will mount a TV to make this the ultimate flex space.
