DIY Halloween Decor, Inspired by Pottery Barn Skeleton Candy Bowl

DIY Skeleton Candy Bowl : Pottery Barn Dupe

I keep my eye out every year for some of the best holiday home decor. I especially love seeing what the big home furnishing and design companies release. However, investing in high-end decor that only stays up for a couple of months out of the year definitely isn’t doable for everyone.

I’ve found that it’s especially difficult to find tasteful halloween home decor without breaking the bank.

I recently came across this Pottery Barn skeleton candy bowland I was obsessed with the sleek and modern look. I thought this piece would be a perfect addition to my Halloween decor, then I noticed the price. This item was listed at nearly two-hundred dollars…

I did look around for a dupe, but I quickly realized I couldn’t find anything that was really similar,  so I decided to turn it into a Halloween DIY project for the blog!

Here’s what I bought:

Total = $40 (not including the glue gun)

I really lucked out finding this plastic skeleton decoration at the dollar store. It was perfect for this project.

This hammered metal bowl was $29 from Amazon. You could substitute this for any bowl though, even one from the dollar store. Spray painting the entire bowl will give the illusion of metal.

To start, I spray painted one side of the skeleton and the bowl. After letting them dry, I flipped them over and sprayed the opposite sides.

I did two coats, waiting at least 30 minutes in between each coat.

After letting both the skelton and the bowl fully dry, I used hot glue to attach the skeleton to the bowl from it’s arms & legs.

And that’s it! Make sure to try out this Pottery Barn Skeleton Candy Bowl dupe for yourself. This was such an easy Halloween DIY, and we were thrilled to be able to recreate this for less than a quarter of the retail price!
