The Easiest Homemade Strawberry Frosting
Our boys are nearly 10 and 12, and our older son loves to cook. He’s also super picky about cooking with fresh ingredients, so on a recent snow day we decided to make fresh strawberry buttercream frosting for Valentine’s Day. It was a super easy recipe to make with kids (he made the cupcakes ahead of time!), and it’s the perfect treat with Valentine’s Day around the corner.
When I was researching using fresh strawberries, I found many people mentioning that the water in the fresh fruit can make the frosting a little runny. So, after chopping the strawberries in a food processor, we cooked them on medium heat to reduce the mixture to about half to thicken it up.
This delicious frosting was a big hit! A friend of mine was our taste tester and she said it tasted like biting into fresh strawberries. It’s the perfect strawberry frosting recipe for a range of baked goods including cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and more. It was easy to make and very tasty! See below for the full recipe. Enjoy!
