What happens when you take a dark, dated primary suite and reimagine it as a serene, light-filled retreat? This full bathroom renovation focused on creating a timeless, spa-like atmosphere by blending organic textures, warm neutrals, and luxurious finishes.
Before
The bones of the space were great, so we knew this space had so much more potential. It had a solid layout with big windows. However, the finishes were stuck in a time warp with heavy cherry wood cabinets, dark granite counters, brass everything, and taupe walls that made the whole room feel weighed down.

Even though there was tons of natural light coming in from the windows, it just couldn’t overcome how dark and dated the finishes were.
After

Fast forward to today, and it’s hard to believe it’s the same room. By swapping out the dark colors for light oak cabinetry, marble-look quartz, soft limewash plaster walls, and bright porcelain herringbone floors, the entire room instantly opened up. Little details, like the ribbed glass cabinet door and minimal wall-mounted faucets, brought in just enough character without ever feeling busy.

The bulky whirlpool tub was taken out and replaced with a freestanding soaking tub with a floor-mounted faucet. The new shower is more spacious and features frameless glass and porcelain slab tile resembling marble.
In between the vanity area and the shower, we were able to create some built-in cabinet storage, accented with an arched door and reeded glass.

As for the walls, we desperately needed to brighten up this space. We went with a soft limewash finish which added an earthy look and texture to the space.

One of the biggest changes we made was relocating the door to the primary bedroom closet to inside the bathroom, giving them more wall space in the bedroom. We chose a beautiful arched door that adds character and charm to the otherwise blank wall.
From dark and dated to light, bright, and spa-like, this bathroom transformation proves that good design isn’t just about how a space looks, it’s about how it makes you feel. Instead of feeling like an afterthought, this bathroom feels like a true retreat. It’s the perfect reminder that when you invest in thoughtful, beautiful design, you’re not just upgrading your home, you’re upgrading your everyday life.
